Family Organics Pecan Nursery

Family Organics pecan nut tree nursery is owned by the Amos family trust and is situated in the Newthorndale Valley about 25km outside of Magaliesburg town on the Rustenburg Road North West Province. Established in 2004. The Pecan Nut Nursery is managed by Orwin Mwale.

The Pecan Nut Nursery is divided into two sections namely: Pecan nut production (3500 trees in production) for seedling nuts and graft-wood. Our nursery pecan nut trees are grown using organic methods for the best quality trees for survival after transplanting. Trees are taken out during late July and early August. These bare-root pecan trees are packed in a unique way to ensure the best quality and freshness at transplanting. The Pecan Nut Nursery and orchard is run using organic methods which include the use of Compost, Worm and Compost tea fertilizers (effective microbes), and cover crop legumes as well as organic mulching to save water. The irrigation system is fully automated and makes use of an Israeli designed and manufactured irrigation system.

Our Pecan Nut Nursery supplies about 25 000-35 000 trees per annum into the South Africa,Namibia Botswana, Zambian and Zimbabwe pecan industries for the establishment of new pecan orchards. Varieties include Wichita, Choctaw, Mohawk, Navaho and Pawnee. We are known for our quality pecan nut trees in the South African and other African markets.
