Assagay Honey Farm

Assagay Honey Farm is situated in the heart of the beautiful Assagay Valley, midway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. Being ardent beekeepers ourselves, and greatly concerned with both the health of the local bee populations and the deterioration of the quality of honey available to consumers, our intention is to inspire more backyard beekeepers by making knowledge and equipment more locally available at affordable prices. Encouraging Backyard Beekeepers is crucial to healthy bee colonies and high honey standards.

Our delicious honey is harvested from hives in and around the Assagay Valley, and is extracted and bottled on our farm. It is pure, raw, unheated honey of a very high standard and is a product of which we are very proud. Honey of this quality is not easily accessed today, it being a common practice to import sub-standard honey and pass it off as a South African product. Being limited to twice a year harvesting, our honey supply is reliant on our bees production and is not always available at our farm outlet.

We supply all the equipment you require for your beekeeping venture or business, from veils and overalls to hives and honey all at very competitive prices. Other services we provide are swarm removal (with a strict ‘no-harm’ policy), and day courses designed for the beginner beekeeper, where we will impart years of knowledge to short cut you to successful and confident beekeeping.
