The Grassfed Association of SA

As demand for healthy and climate friendly alternatives grows it is important that consumers understand and trust what they are buying. The GRASSFED ASSOCIATION OF SA (GFASA) was born out of a need to enable farmers to get GrassFed produce to market by providing the certification and a label that the value chain and consumer could trust.  GFASA was established to enable primary producers to produce certified GrassFed and/or Free Range meat for consumers. By producing and treating cattle as they have evolved to live, with respect and in harmony with soil, grasses and wildlife, we return to a model of sustainability that nature has already perfected for us; one that considers and improves every aspect of life. The GrassFed value chain lives, believes and supports this approach.

GFASA enables this route to market by providing:

• a comprehensive GrassFed protocol
• auditing of that protocol by GFASA and SAMIC
• a distinctive brand mark, that can be trusted and recognized by consumers
• farmers with the ability to market their certified product via their chosen channels
• a unified GrassFed industry

To be a Standard Member you need to have a virtual audit conducted by GFASA.  To be a Producer Member you need to have a full on-site audit by both GFASA and SAMIC.
