The initiative was started by a collective of creative industry practitioners and urban horticulturalists, who after 12 months of intense training developed the demarcated location of the project into a platform for socio-economic development. Aptly named Ndawo EntleEzeleUthando – Beautiful Place that yields love – it is specifically positioned to reconnect communities with each other and nature, through all forms of creative practice and art, permaculture, urban greening and sustainable, holistic living. With its open people- oriented design approach the project, Ndawo Entle is not only yielding valuable fauna and flora, but is also cultivating wholesome public and community relationships which benefit the” homeless ”, job seekers , the creative community, fledgling entrepreneurs and the general community at large.   This project is vital particularly in Urban communities where city living and disconnectedness from nature has created physical, mental and spiritual deficiencies , which can only be counter effected by engaging nature and fosterig creative development. The objectives of the initiative include but are not limited to: Restoration, rejuvenation, renewal and maintenance of natural resources within the Bez Valley precinct, Harnessing the skills and experience of the creative community in all forms of art to develop the community, Raising awareness and lobbying collective participation in urban greening and gardening in the city Creating a platform for skills and knowledge transfer for the Afro-eclectic community of Bez Valley and thus creating a continentally influenced, locally inspired permaculture knowledge system from people all across the continent who have settled in Bez Valley. Alleviate the global challenge of Food Security at a localised level for the community by the community Promote social cohesion and community building at all levels by reinforcing residents’ commitment to nature and each other Natural and organic cultivation of Urban Wild Life through the cultivation and rejuvenation of the land Identifying and implementing measurable opportunities for economic development for the entire community with nature.
